SEIU Local 580

We are the RI Alliance of Social Service Employees and our union, SEIU Local 580 represents more than 850 public sector workers throughout the State of Rhode Island.

We represent members at 9 Rhode Island public sector agencies: Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF), Department of Human Services (DHS), Occupational Rehabilitative Services (ORS), Office of Health and Human Services (OHHS), Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals (BHDDH), Department of Business Regulation (DBR), Department of Public Utilities and Carriers (DPUC), Office of Library Information Services (OLIS) and Department of Labor and Training (DLT).

SEIU Local 580 is a part of the Services Employees International Union, the fastest growing labor union in the United States. At more than 2 million members, SEIU is the nation’s largest health care union, the largest property services union, and the second largest public employee union. Local 580 is part of the SEIU State Council consisting of SEIU Locals 1199, 32BJ & Local 401. We are an affiliate of the Rhode Island AFL-CIO, comprised of 80,000 Rhode Island union members.
